1. Introduction

Quewi (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is an AI-powered movie and series recommendation platform. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use quewi.app, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using Quewi, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Data

When you register, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email and name. We do not receive your Google password.

Usage Data

We store your watch history, star ratings, tracker statuses (Want to Watch, Watching, Watched, Dropped), and genre preferences. This data is the core of your taste profile and powers your personalized recommendations.

AI Interaction Data

Your chat messages to the Quewi AI are stored to maintain conversation context and improve recommendation quality. Chat history is associated with your account and visible only to you.

Payment Data

Subscription payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. We do not store your credit card number, expiry date, or CVV. We store only your subscription tier, status, and renewal date.

Technical Data

We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security monitoring and performance diagnostics via Azure Application Insights. This data is retained for 30 days.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and personalize the recommendation service (daily picks, AI chat, group suggestions)
• Manage your account, authenticate your sessions, and process subscription billing
• Send transactional emails (email confirmation, password reset, payment receipts) via Resend
• Monitor service health, diagnose errors, and improve performance
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

We do not use your data for advertising, sell it to data brokers, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the following service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate Quewi:

• Dodo Payments - subscription billing, VAT/tax compliance, and chargeback handling. Dodo is the Merchant of Record and processes payment data under their own privacy policy.
• Resend - transactional email delivery (confirmation, password reset, billing notifications). We share only your email address and the content of the email being sent.
• TMDB & Watchmode - read-only APIs for movie metadata and streaming availability. No user data is sent to these services.
• Microsoft Azure - cloud hosting. Your data is stored in Azure datacenters and subject to Microsoft's privacy commitments.
• Mistral AI - your chat queries are processed by Mistral to generate recommendations. Queries are not used to train Mistral models under our API agreement.

5. Data Retention

Your account data (profile, ratings, watch history, chat messages) is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Billing records required for legal compliance are retained for 7 years per applicable law.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can update your profile information from the Profile page. To request a full data export or account deletion, email us at privacy@quewi.app. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in and ensure the service works properly. This cookie is strictly necessary for the website to function.

We also store your locale preference in a cookie to remember your language choice between visits.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

8. Security

We take the protection of your information seriously. All data is transmitted securely, and stored in a way that safeguards it against unauthorized access. Passwords are protected using industry‑standard methods, and sessions are designed to expire quickly to reduce risk.

No security system is perfect. If you discover a vulnerability, please disclose it responsibly to security@quewi.app.

9. Children's Privacy

Quewi is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at privacy@quewi.app and we will delete the account promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
